Our Commitment to Privacy

This extension, EchoRec Screen Recorder, is committed to protecting your privacy. We have designed this tool to be completely private and secure. Our core principle is that your data is your own.

Data Collection and Usage

This extension does not collect, store, share, or transmit any of your personal information. We do not operate any servers to store user data.

Recording Data

All screen recording data is processed locally on your computer within the browser. The data is only saved to your local hard drive when you explicitly choose to download the file. No recording data is ever sent to us or any third party automatically.

Google Drive Integration (Optional Feature)

To provide you with the optional feature to upload your recordings, we use Google's secure authentication and API services. This process is designed to protect your privacy:

• User-Initiated: The upload to Google Drive only happens when you explicitly click the "Upload to Drive" button. No data is ever sent without your direct action.
• Google Authentication: We use Google's standard OAuth 2.0 flow to request your permission. This means we never see or store your Google password. The authentication is handled securely by Google.
• Restricted Permissions: We request the narrowest possible permission (`drive.file`). This allows the extension **only** to upload files into your Google Drive. It **cannot** see, edit, or delete any of your other existing files.
• Direct Transfer: The file is transferred directly from your browser to Google's servers. We do not act as an intermediary and have no access to the uploaded file.

User Preferences

User preferences, such as the theme setting (light/dark mode), are stored locally on your own device using the standard browser storage API. This information is not accessible to us or anyone else.
